Scoop: A Woody Allen movie with great on-screen bantering chemistry between Woody as the father and Jade Spence (Scarlett Johansson) as the high school journalism reporter who has had a run-in with a recently deceased reporter who is giving her the ultimate scoop on a serial murder that has kept London at bay. Hugh Jackman plays the rich, millionaire who is thought to be the killer. It reminded me of Woody Allen's "Manhatton Murder Mystery" with the set up and pacing like Dianne Keaton, Woody Allen and Alan Alda as the conspiracy theorist. Very funny with all of the usual Woody jokes.
Woman at Party: What religion are you? Woody: "I used to be of the Hebrew persuassion but now I'm studying Narcissism."
Scarlett is surprisingly witty and funny with Woody. An odd couple that somehow works, kind of harolding back to a 1950s era movie. Woody definitely has death on his mind with the death boat scenes. Somehow relieves the tension of the deceased (or being recently deceased) with these scenes.
