Can't say I much agree with this guy's taste, though I love that he has SIDEWAYS at number one. The Los Angeles film critics just awarded it Best Picture and Best Director as well. I continue to urge anybody who hasn't seen it yet to try to find it playing near you.
The early word on MILLION DOLLAR BABY and THE AVATIOR are extremely positive. Look for them to be mentioned in upcoming columns.
I just watched THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE on a plane today -- crap. Thought HARRY POTTER 3 was pretty damned lame too. I'm also surprised at just how positive the response has been to BEFORE SUNSET, which was relatively enjoyable light fare, but zero substance and boring at times.
