There are many horror flix dawning the shelf in you local video store/net flix/ what ever this isn't the point, anyway what is you favorite horror movie, would you say horror movies are still as good as the classics?? In the classic horror genre is it the early early flix (White Zombie, Plan 9 From outter space, Original Dracula, Carnival of Souls etc..) or would you say that the 70's and 80's (The Lost Boys, Evil Dead, It, Exorcist, Dawn of the Dead original etc....) pioneered much of the modern horror genre? Do you think that cheesy horror (Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Critters) is as good a genuine scary. Or do you tire of retarded sensless gore? If you know of any rare or banned horror flix (Canibal Ferox, Battle Royal, Devil's Nightmare etc.....) and you would like to share let me know. I cannot satisfy my craving for new horror flix of to learn about one I have not seen. And Finnally do you think modern horror films hold up against the classics (Texas Chain Saw Massacre) do you think all the movie Ideas are gone or are there still fresh one's left (Blair Witch Project (kind of)) to be thought up??? ****So if it turns out no one on this site likes horror movies then well do what you always do and don't respond, or leave a completely unrelated comment.
I haven't seen a truly good horror come out since Blair Witch, except for the Ring. I will admit that the remake of Chainsaw Massacre was an improvement for the teeny bopper/horror genre although the subsequent Amityville remake reached new lows.
The best horror movies seem to be the low-budget ones (exorcist, blair witch, friday 13). Perhaps the big buck productions eliminate the horror quality by default?
The lack of originality is what kills me. I mean "The Ring" is Shot for Shot the exact same movie as the Japanese Version "Ringu." The last cheesy funny horror flick I have seen that came out recently was "Bubba Ho-Tepp." This flick is about Elvis fighting a Mummy!? Awsome.
