Anyone else fired up about catching the opening of "Walk the Line" this weekend? First time I have been excited about a blockbuster movie in a while . . .
hopefully, it is not a huge let down. I would hate for Hollywood to disrespect the man in black. Joaquin Phoenix is definitely laying his balls out on the table for this one.
I don't care if Joaquin plays ping pong for an hour and makes funny faces in the rear view mirror of his cadillac...I just want to watch him (okay, I take that back. The firemen movie was awful!!).
Walk the Line is fantastic. I've never seen three hours of sexual tension build-up like that in my life! It blows all period piece BBC flicks including Pride and Prejudice (with Colin Firth) out of the water. I'd be surprised if Joaquin and Reese are both not nominated for awards this year.
Wow. Saw this movie a few nights ago and was completely blown away. That movie had SOOO much going on. I was probably predisposed to enjoying this movie because I love Johny Cash, play music myself, and am into movies with the whole drugs, sex, rock n roll thing. But add all of the intricacies of relationships with parents, siblings, self, and lovers and you've got yourself not only a really fun movie, but a movie that moves you. Oscars will definitely be knocking on that door.
I'm not usually one for gushy love stories, but I found myself feeling like a 13 year-old girl watching a chick-flick for this one. The on-screen chemistry b/w Pheonix and Witherspoon was powerful. They really captured how beautiful and real their relationship was. I had doubts about the casting of this movie, but now am in total accord with the choices made.
What a flick! It has the fun, the struggles, the music, the character development, the personal demons, and the conflict of a person being married to a woman who wants a traditional life, but he is not made for it. The conflict of being married to the wrong person with children, but then finding the one you really love. What a nightmare, but how exciting at the same time.
Here are the two things that I got out of it (if anybody wants to come back in various user names to "re-bash" me over and over...go for it.)
1. This film really shows why people have addictions. Never was anything so clearly relayed as this character's loss of control of pleasing people in his life and love never found--until the end with June. His frustration with his selfish wife who never put herself in his shoes to his verbally abusive father to June (but he could not have for many years) who he connected with because she believed in his talent and never judged his path that he took in life.
2. This was a dark movie. People are destructive to themselves when they don't know which direction to take (even if they have natural talent). Maybe we are all looking for a little redemption and direction at our darkest hour.
walk the line does have a dark element to it, but the movie also has a lot of upside as well. So people shouldn't write it off as a "depressing movie." I always find that the best movies have highs and lows.
wouldn't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it. I thought there was quite a bit of other upsides in spurts throughout the movie. I guess it's all open to interpretation though. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
are you a guy or a girl? The reason that I ask is that you seem like a girl in your answers. you don't have to reveal it to the viewing audience but we are all curious, especially Thuggity and his gang.
Wow, didn't know I was that "Pat-like." Sorry to keep all of you in limbo especially Thuggity and his gang. I think this is kind of interesting actually. So just to piss all of you off, I plead the fifth.
clue #1: you use the Saturday night reference that is really showing a manish woman named Pat. clue #2: you've referenced yourself as "stubborn bitch" and "13-year-old girl" in other threads. clue #3: you have not said, "man" or "dude" in any reference. clue #4: you described a movie as "fun." I have not seen a guy say that before.
I'm not really sure how to respond to my recent penis removal via agorafora. I guess I could be insulted, but i don't really give a $hit. However, i will retort [this is all in a non-bitter tone (not sarcasm)].
The reason why i don't use dude or man is because the only other person on this website who carries on an intelligent conversation is a female (sorry, i just don't know who the hell anyone else is). Got to respect the ladies. That 13-year-old girl comment was supposed to be funny because I am a guy. Guess that didn't work (sarcasm). "Stubborn bitch:" this, without the other "clues," would have slipped passed without comment. And c'mon, you got to cut me some slack on the word "fun." That's just mean.
Referencing Pat. I didn't know only females did that (this is sarcasm). Yeah, and i didn't really get the "pat" clue. Could be just me though.
Anyways, I am a dude, hence "mewvieGUY," I like to f*ck women, not men, I can't live without sportscenter, and i love to eat pizza and scratch my balls all day. I also HATE chick flicks. So there you have it. The suspense is over. "Thuggity and his gang" can now find more important things in their life to think about.
Oh Yeah, if you don't mind, can I have my penis back?
I have to say that it's the biggest laugh that I've had had sober/drunk on agorafora. No need for disclaimers about being bitter or sarcastic. I love it. I really did think you were a girl (not at first but the "walk the line" part through me for a loop.) I wasn't trying to mean with the fun comment. maybe you are FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN?
sorry, three glasses of wine are in me from traveling far away. i would be more classy in other circumstances. but not on the hump night....which is Wednesday for slow folks out there in the deep south.
I am paying 15 dollars an hour to look at this ****i ng site....this is stressful...I am $hit faced, and tryin to type while talking on the cell....I am a man...I have had several people call me a lesbin but I am not sure where this is coming from...can someone tell me?
DUDE'S got a point. The only people who pretend to be the opposite sex on the internet from what I've heard are usually 40 year old virgins with sexuallity issue's's's's's's's's's's's's's's's's's.
I finally saw this movie it was pretty good. Good acting good filming alright singing by PheoniX. BUT WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SONG BOY NAMED SUE OR ONE PIECE AT A TIME??? I AM SORRY BUT YOU NEED BOY NAMED SUE IN A CASH FILM!! Oh well. I thought the plot was similar to RAY. But I guess in the south People do what they do what they do. Overall glad I finally saw this one but a little bit dissappointed at some things. Jerry Lee Lewis is an Asshole!!
Boy Named Sue and One Piece at a Time are great tunes. My guess is they didn't put those songs in there because they came out later in Cash's career and the movie sort cutoff after the earlier days.
