Really non-Woody Allenish screenplay except for the occasional play on ironic circumstances. I thought there were some troubling ethical issues that personally were really disturbing. It makes you see how someone who has never committed a crime suddenly has a motive and follows through. Scary that these characters exist out there!! Anyone else see it?
So, I was shocked to see this movie was playing in my town. I called up 411 again after hearing that a friend had seen it last week while on a date. 411 says, it's nowhere in the entire state. Now, at this point, I think I am going crazy. So, I call the friend (not to catch up but to get the 411 on where this movie is playing) and she describes some random theater in the middle of walmart/suburbia hello. IT IS THERE! Along with all of these other arty/farty, oscar movies. I had not idea this 70s type theater existed...only knew of one other that had the same range of movies.
I think that 411's info. is really not as far-reaching as you would think.
Saw it. Agreed that it is scary how someone w/out a criminal record could all of the sudden be involved with such a major crime. However, it is just a movie. Not to say that this isn't actually a great representation of how it really goes down, but it still is just a movie.
Because it just came out, I don't want to give too much away, but i like the fact that Woody Allen made this movie. If you didn't know that Woody Allen made this movie, you would never have guessed that he did.
If your in the mood for an interesting flick, check it out. I know I just recently wrote about "The Blob," but I'd like to think that I still have some taste.
If you are one of those bitter, overly analytical people, who needs something revolutionary to get yourself off before you put the "worthwhile" tag on it, then don't bother seeing this movie.
But if you are able to take a step back and lose yourself in an interesting story with some progression, then it has got your name on it.
Sometimes I just like to go to the movies. It might not be mindblowing, but it's entertainment.
This reminds me of this guy who is all over the news for allegedly killing his wife and baby. He flees to England and then returns with a "not guilty" statement. Talk about shady! There was also something similiar in a Vanity Fair article (some rich couple and the wife mysteriously dies).
I give it to Woody Allen. He always thinks up a dilemma and then pieces the entire screenplay around one question. Even though it's just a movie, it plays right into every girl's worst fear about never assuming that a guy is mentally all there or the fact that you can't tell.
