What a complex character. He lies to everyone even at their dying hour. Yet the overall resonating thing that he wanted people to believe was him. Capote was "truly honest" and "did everything" he could. The only time that he was honest was to his editor. The editor chose not to absorb what he said. An ironic point as the editor reinforced his dark side of only caring for his work not the people around him.
He was a master story teller and his charisma at parties was interesting. It definitely made you want to be at a party with him. He seemed like the life of the party. But his reality was more about his story telling than reality. A very interesting movie. I can see why Philip Seamore Hoffman won. You cannot even recognize him at all. His mannerisms and his reactions to other characters was intrinsically not affected by a character part. You believe it's Capote. Katherine Keener was good but still carried the sarcastic wary tone that she brings to most other roles. Her charcter, Nell was a true friend because she wanted Capote to be honest to himself. I thought it interesting in the end that he was telling lies to himself. That was an interesting note to end on.
" The only time that he was honest was to his editor. The editor chose not to absorb what he said. An ironic point as the editor reinforced his dark side of only caring for his work not the people around him. "
The parallelism between this website's editor and capote is that to a T.
was the editor old enough in 1984 to hang out with Capote before he died of alcoholism? Well, I'm sure he (Capote) was "honest" on agorafora since it's a forum for free, FUCKED UP expression. He would have loved it.
