I finally saw this film. I was great I almost cried like a little bitch. But luckily the movie ended before I could get to worked up. This movie (for the people who havent seen it) deals with the taboos of racism in Los Angelos. It really makes the characters of the film compromise there basic ethics in order to do the more just thing. Must have been made around the same time as Hustle and Flow because the Pimp from that movie and Ludacris are both in this one. Funny, sad, happy, corny. TWO THUMBS UP YOUR ASS
I didn't think it deserved best picture but it's one of the few examples of characters that are not typecaste. It plays off that well. What's another example of such a movie where the entire caste is not split into groups of good and bad?
Worth seeing because it's thought-provoking, but the writing was extremely clunky and heavy-handed. Okay, okay... different types of people can be racist, people have both their good sides and their bad sides, don't judge a book by its cover, etc. We get it already.
And the plot hinged on too many ridiculous coincidences.
