Just saw this classic last night, really liked it...now I have to read the book.
Also saw Garden State over the weekend and was pleased with the movie although a couple of the cliches got in the way. The best way to describe that movie is as the first novel that everyone wants to write right after college.
Indeed one of the greatest character pieces of all time. Anthony Quinn made a lot of ****ty movies over the course of his career, but man, was he in a few great ones. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, GUNS OF NAVARONE, LA STRADA, REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT.
I wasn't aware that ZORBA was a book first (shows how much I know). I wonder if it strayed far from the source material...
