I want to see it because I read the book, but I keep hearing horrible reviews about it. I want to know how this movie got so butchered because the book (it seemed) translated very well into a movie screenplay. It was laid out throughout chapters as scenes in a movie.
The scary part is that a good bit of people will believe the movie's contents as the truth about Christ. I swear that you'll see some liberal, 20-something who has not been to church or read the Bible in a while, take it as the word of God--no pun intended.
The word from a couple of priests that I've heard interviewed is they say that back in Jesus' day that it looked bad to not be married so if anything, if Jesus was married, the apostles would have played it up in the writing instead of ommitting it. I love how even 2,000 years ago, singles were still considered the black sheep.
Let's face it: more than the bad reviews, it's Tom Hank's hairstyle that's keeping me away! What happened to the cute guy from Sleepless in Seattle? Did they use a flat iron on his hair in this film?

Would it be a big deal if Jesus WAS married or the book was for real? I don't see what the big stink is all about.
If you're a Christian, Catholic, Protestant or otherwise, you believe that he was sent here from God to spread a message. Other details are pretty irrelevant and, at the end of the day, don't really matter.
I guarantee you that God is rolling his eyes over how caught up we get in details. I'm sure he wants us to be expending thought and energy on more important issues.
He seems kind of type-A to me. What was that biblical passage about how he cares for the tiny little flowers and knows how many hairs are on your head. And didn't he turn some people to sand in the old testament? I don't agree about the rolling of the eyes part.
So you're telling me if some old, ancient, biblical scrolls came out that showed that Jesus was a transvestite meth-head that he'd still be rolling his eyes? I think the point is that accuracy is very important in regards to the Word. One of the ten commandments is to not lie.

I read this book as well. I just think religious groups are over reacting now because it is a movie. When it was a book these crazy religious nuts had little or nothing to say about this book. I think it is because they cannot read. Makes you wonder how they know what is in the Bible.
the best is when they quote actual phrases or what's it called psalms and then say, 4:11 or whatever and I'm looking at them like how the F*CK did they know that? of course, i'm too lazy to bust them to see if they actually quoted the right one so instead i just get impressed with their BS.
