Miramax has had it sitting on their shelves for two years, trying to figure out what to do with it. I saw it on DVD a couple of times last year (you can buy it at www.asiandiscs.com ). My two cents: the visuals are nothing short of stunning. The imagery, the cinematography, and the use of color are amazing. Some of the fight sequences are pretty damned cool too, but for my taste it's a little bit too chopsocky/wire fu. As for the plot: I was completely bored.
Personally, I thought CROUCHING TIGER was a masterpiece. A plot you really cared about, surrounded by spectacular fight sequences. HERO just isn't of that quality.
BUT...that being said, I'm considering seeing it on the big screen just for the visual aspect. You might enjoy it.
